Is it worth the PAIN?

Human motivation stems from two basic forces: PAIN and PLEASURE. Despite multiple efforts and hours of intense debates with my sisters, I refuse to blow dry my hair while I am in the shower.  Sure I like processes that make things easier, faster, and more efficient but I am not stupid.  If the blow dryer is plugged into the wall, the cord would barely reach the shower.  With the cord stretched out that far, it would be too easy for me to trip over and I could easily get hurt.

I know my sisters are looking out for my best interests, that’s obvious.  But the PAIN of tripping over the cord keeps me from taking their otherwise good advice.

I have never found it fun to work out.  In fact, it brought a lot of pain!  When I had a trainer (I was 24) he would kill me!  I have never trained ANYONE as hard as he trained me!  He was training me for a bodybuilding show.  I was in good shape and I worked out all the time!  I remember the first time he trained my legs, I threw up.  He hated me!  When I drove home, my legs were shaking so badly I had a hard time keeping my foot on the accelerator (true story).

That same day, I decided to tan FOR THE FIRST TIME.  I asked, “How long do you recommend?”  She said, “For your first time, ten minutes.”  I said, “Give me twenty, I never burn!  When I come out I am going to be TAN THE MAN.”  I got into my birthday suit (of course I left the socks on my feet), put on some tan accelerator, then laid down in the Star Trek transporter.  Twenty minutes later I woke up in the same place.

The next day, I HAD BLISTERS ON AREAS THAT HAVE NEVER SEEN THE SUN!  My legs were so sore I walked like a 135-year-old man and I got hemorrhoids!!!!!!  NICE!

In order to work out I can’t focus on the PAIN!  I have to focus on the multiple benefits exercise brings!  Even if it doesn’t give me PLEASURE in the present, it will bring me a goldmine full of fortune in the future.  You reap what you sow!
