Health Myths vs. Facts: Uncovering the Reality of Fitness

In the world of health and fitness, the line between myth and truth can often become blurred. When information is suppressed, it’s typically for one of two reasons: either it’s deemed nonsensical and not based on scientific evidence, or it’s so revolutionary and truthful that it challenges the status quo, causing fear among those it threatens to displace.

Myth vs. Truth

We’re bombarded with new diets, exercise regimes, and health fads that promise quick and easy results every day. Most of these are “moronic and delusional” and should be ostracized by the scientific community for their lack of evidence and potential harm. Yet, we see all too often that they are embraced by people who are educated far beyond their intelligence, then packaged to the public in a way that shames anyone who doesn’t adhere to their illogical conclusions. We are not herbivores; “plant-based” doesn’t automatically mean it’s good for you. Heroin is plant-based, as are cocaine and nicotine. So, don’t let junk food labeled as “plant based” make you automatically think it’s good for you.

On the flip side, there are truths about health and fitness that are not as widely known or discussed because they don’t align with commercial interests. For example, the importance of sleep, the role of stress management, the impact on mental health, and the positive cumulative effects of consistent exercise.

When a health and fitness truth is suppressed, it’s often because it challenges deeply entrenched beliefs or financial interests that probably don’t align with your best interest. If these people had any foresight, they would see it didn’t line up with their best interest either, and they would stop. For instance, the acknowledgment that simple lifestyle changes can be more effective than medication in preventing and managing diseases like Type 2 diabetes is a truth that could disrupt the pharmaceutical industry. In my opinion, anyone who betrays your health for a dollar is useless, yet they seem to “rule the roost” in this world.

Embracing the Truth

As individuals seeking to improve our health and fitness, it is crucial to approach all information with a critical eye and an open mind. Research, ask questions, and consult professionals who don’t spew out talking points from their favorite pharmaceutical company. And if you have a trainer that doesn’t think meat is good for you… RUN to your computer and do honest research with one goal in mind: finding the truth. When you get a nugget like a fact, don’t just build a foundation on that fact; keep researching, fact-checking, and making connections.

Embrace practices that are backed by solid evidence, even if they’re less glamorous or lack commercial appeal. And remember, true health and fitness are about a sustainable lifestyle, not quick fixes. Even though I am not opposed to a quick fix, as long as you know that’s what it is! More coming on that soon!

The path to true health and fitness is often less about discovering new secrets and more about applying well-established principles consistently. So, let’s strive to uncover the often suppressed truths and fearlessly integrate them into our lives for long-term well-being.
