Celebration Time

I have a large family. I have lots of Aunts and Uncles most of which have told me they enjoy my company from a distance. When I call them they often say “Absence makes the heart grow fonder…. I think we need a little more time.” Welcome to my world.

It’s a competitive family so during holidays when we get together we play sports. Normally it’s a high impact sport like washers. I generally win at any sport I play, washer is no different. Victory is inevitable; since winning to me is normally automatic I win with class.

During a game of washers I typically let the other team know how badly I am beating them, how bad I am going to beat them, and how they should consider retiring from the game. After I beat them handily I let them know it could have been worse I was only playing at 30% percent. I was nursing my shoulder that was inflamed with gingivitis. Normally I get booed at family functions during any kind of competition… Why? People don’t like winners!

That little story above is seriously a typical family event. I don’t always win (just most of the time) but what I have learned to do is ALWAYS celebrate the victories! However insignificant winning a washer game is, I always celebrate. On those rare occasions I lose, due to the wind, or sun in my eyes I minimize the loss.

When you get on the scale and you’re not excited because you only lost 1.5 pound! Think about this… 1.5 pounds x 52 = 78 pounds.

It’s the small victories that will lead you to the mountain of success you were destine to harvest.

It is good to have a goal but it’s impossible to succeed without a vision! Don’t lose sight of small victories and enjoy the journey.
